Delegation from Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association Visits the Japan Association of National Universities (October 3)
A delegation led by Dr. Shen-Li Fu, Chairman from the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association, visited the Japan Association of National Universities (JANU) on October 3, 2019. In the meeting conducted at Hitotsubashi Hall in Tokyo, various views were exchanged between JANU and the delegation, comprising of 25 members including presidents and vice presidents from 14 national and private universities in Taiwan.
This visit was implemented as part of a Japan visit program conducted annually by the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association, in order to observe the current status of the governance and management of Japanese universities.
The meeting commenced with an opening address by Kenji Yamamoto, Senior Managing Director of JANU, followed by a presentation by Hayashi Towatari, Managing Director. In the presentation, he explained the current status and challenges of higher education and national universities in Japan and the current situations of international exchange with Taiwanese universities. He also introduced JANU’s efforts related to such status and challenges.
Subsequently, the Taiwanese participants asked questions on individual themes presented earlier, provoking a lively discussion. In particular, a wide variety of questions were asked regarding the situation after the incorporation of national universities in Japan and the collaboration and integration efforts of national universities, which showed the keen interest of the participants in these matters.
