On July 5, 2017, the Japan Association of National Universities (JANU) invited Dr. Chantavit Sujatanond, Centre Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation – Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO-RIHED) to have a dialogue and discussion.

　The SEAMEO-RIHED, a subdivision of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation based in Bangkok, Thailand, is responsible for research and development in higher education fields in Southeast Asia.

　The meeting was also attended by Ms. Taka Horio, Deputy Director of the Office for International Planning, Higher Education Bureau, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as well as Prof. Taiji Hotta, Vice Executive of International Planning and Professor of International Center at Hiroshima University, and Expert Advisor of the International Exchange Committee at the JANU.

　At the meeting, representatives of both the JANU and the SEAMEO-RIHED gave presentations that included outlines of their respective organizations and their efforts on international exchanges, which were followed by a heated discussion on how to make an agreement and create a comprehensive cooperation and partnership down the road.

　The JANU intends to continue to actively promote expanding exchanges in the future.
