German Rectors’ Conference Visits Japan Association of National Universities (November 22, 2024)

 The German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) visited the Japan Association of National Universities (JANU) on November 22, 2024, to engage in a discussion and exchange of views. Representing the HRK were Walter Rosenthal, President (Former President of Friedrich Schiller University Jena); Jörg Bagdahn, Vice President (President of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences); Angela Ittel, Vice President (President of Technical University of Braunschweig and President of the TU9 Alliance); and Marijke Wahlers, Deputy Secretary-General. From JANU, Kyosuke Nagata, President; Tatsuo Ushiki, Vice Chairperson of the International Exchange Committee, JANU; and Ryuichi Ida, Senior Managing Director, participated.

 The meeting included discussions on the current status of higher education and research policy, research integrity and security in universities, academic exchanges for students and researchers, and the promotion of recruitment of female researchers. Both sides shared their perspectives on the current situation and challenges in these areas.

 Moving forward, JANU remains committed to furthering initiatives that will enhance academic exchanges between Japan and Germany for the development of higher education and research.
